Too many Aspin's in Halifax! |

According to official records, there were more individuals with the surname ASPIN living in Halifax in 1881 than we ought to expect. The census conducted on 3rd April of that year records 21 individuals of that name, comprising 5 households, living within the borough. This is almost double the number that were known to be there through the research undertaken and recorded for this Aspin-Tomlinson website.

The family branch of Alfred Uriel Aspin |

This item will be of most interest to Aspin family members
Alfred Uriel was one of the youngest children of Christopher George ASPIN and Ann Aspin (nee Wildman). He was born in 1870 about eight years after the family arrived in Halifax.
I am indebted to Valerie Albrighton (granddaughter of Alfred) for the following photographs, and for identifying some earlier errors relating to Alfred's wife Mary Eliza BAILEY. Thanks too to Viv Hawley who is also researching the ASPIN family, and who has kindly provided details of the War Service of Alfred's sons.

Welcome to the Aspin-Tomlinson website! |

This project began as an attempt to identify and find out about my own ancestors - those individuals belonging to the Aspin and Tomlinson families of my parents. Of course, there are many people with these names throughout the world, and a project of this type could not possibly identify or research all of them. It would be more accurate, therefore, to say that the Aspin-Tomlinson website is intended to identify and record the family heritage of those individuals who are the ancestors or the descendants of my four grandparents:

This interesting photo is thought to capture a gathering of Aspin's which took place around 1954. My grandmother Rebecca is on the back row against the wall (2nd from the left in the large hat), whilst my grandfather Norman is in front of her (immediately below the lady on Rebecca's right). The only other known persons are Norman's brother Irvine (on his left), and Irvine's wife Ettie (next but one on Rebecca's left).
